George Washington & Thomas Jefferson (and most other intellectuals of the day) used a political spectrum line that was essentially a freedom meter. You had "tyranny" on one extreme & "anarchy" on the other. Tyranny & Strong Centralized Government sits today on what we call the Left. Freedom & Decentralized Government sits on what we call the Right. The further you go either way the greater the potential for tyranny or anarchy.
===========================History has proven time & again that the much greater risk comes from tyranny. We seek, "the greatest amount of individual freedom possible consistent with an orderly society." The Constitution of 1787, "strictly followed as originally intended," can give us that now and forever.
