First, every president in the last 40 years, Democrat or Republican, has drawn a hard line on immigration. There is plenty of video evidence of presidents stating that they will deport immigrants that cross our border illegally. Obama was labeled, “deporter in chief” after deporting 5 million illegal aliens over 8 years. Why didn’t society at large protest his actions? I believe this is a fair question. It is all about coverage and spin. They didn’t report Obama’s cages at the border until Trump was in office! This solidified our distrust of mainstream media. The public didn’t know about how Obama detained immigrants or deported them because they didn’t cover it. The selective outrage from the Left is very convenient.
Republicans typically don’t march or protest… we’re too busy working. I’m not suggesting that protesting is a waste of time, but there are other ways to make your voice heard. I take that back, protesting is a colossal waste of time. You aren’t going to change anyone’s mind by shouting, “No justice, no peace” or “hey hey, ho ho, ICE has got to go”. I don’t immediately think, “you know, they made that rhyme! They have a great point!” If I see anyone with a bullhorn, I can admit that I have an immediate immature reaction, and I hate your cause. Block traffic, I hate your cause. Shout at everyone that they’re fascist, I hate your cause.
The next problem I saw was the development of sanctuary cities. A sanctuary city is a place to protect illegal aliens from deportation. I have a solution to this problem later. Border states that are encountering many of these aliens made the first mistake. States like Texas and Florida bused them to these sanctuary cities instead of sending them back to their country of origin. Sending them to sanctuary cities made great political theatre, but this was also a huge tactical error. These sanctuary cities help make the states blue and democratic strongholds in the process.
Whether illegal aliens find a way to vote or not, isn’t the point I’m trying to make. It is part of the problem, sure, but it’s about representation! The number of state representatives is based on the total population, not citizen population. So, by bussing illegal immigrants to Democrat strongholds, they added more unnecessary blue seats. I guarantee if the government went to strictly citizen representation, Democrats would stop caring about the illegal aliens and drop that cause like they were asked to do a hard day’s work.
The bottom line is that sanctuary cities are illegal. They are breaking federal law by knowing they are here illegally and offering them more benefits than our citizens are afforded. If those cities and states are operating at a surplus and can offer some immigrants asylum within their own operating budget, so be it. But what I see is that these cities and states are rampant with fraud and is costing every American taxpayer billions of dollars. The moment a city becomes a sanctuary city, all federal funding should be cut off because they are operating outside of the law. Then the burden of proof is on each state’s legislature to PROVE that they are not using tax-payer funds for NON-US citizens.
Finally, sanctuary city mayors that are directing local law enforcement not to assist ICE need to be charged with obstruction. Local police should help with crowd control and can stop convoys of vehicles from impeding traffic and ICE operations. These mayors, by instructing their law enforcement not to uphold the law, only embolden agitators and domestic terrorists to cross lines that come with severe consequences. The person responsible for that woman losing her life is the mayor of Minneapolis. I believe all life has value, even hers. She forfeited her life by driving into an ICE agent because there is no leadership on the Left. They allow a few, who act like spoiled brats that didn’t get their way, to throw a tantrum and act like a kid that didn’t get the toy they wanted at Christmas. Anyone who drives their car directly at law enforcement is going to get shot. Period.
Sanctuary cities must go. They are not beacons of hope, but bastions of illegal activity perpetrated by inept leadership that they elect. We are not governed by a poem on the Statue of Liberty, “give me your tired your poor your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” because instead we get the criminal, the rapist, the derelict, the terrorist, determined to rob and kill our citizens, defraud the American people and take advantage of our good will. I could organize a rally, start shouting, “Sanctuary cities have to go! hey hey, ho ho our elected officials have to go!" Or they just need to step up and remember who they serve. The American citizen is their priority, and it’s time for the lemming protesters to understand that not every cause they shout for is a worthy one. Next week they are going to protest the persecution of Bill Clinton when he is found in contempt for not showing up to his congressional Epstein hearing.
