Jefferson & Madison understood the lessons of the Romans, had a clarity of purpose & were determined that the United States did not end up like Rome...
Unfortunately, their Decentralized Republic has mostly been eroded from us. But, every trace of liberty that remains we owe to them; champions of the Bill of Rights, Founders of the Republican party & heroes to the Productive middle class!
